essay2Indiana North District Essay Contest

2014-2015 Topic: “Optimism Should be a Priority”

This contest is open to students under the age of 19 who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent. Each contestant will compose a 700-800-word essay around a central idea to develop their writing and critical thinking skills.  Entrants must use the official entry form and follow all of the requirements. All contests start at the club level, the winning essay of each club contest is entered in the District contest. For more information, please contact your local Optimist Club.


Local Clubs:

Each club must submit winning essays to the District Chair by February 28, 2015. Entries must be complete.

A complete entry includes:

a.  District Essay Contest entry form (pg 12 of club manual)

b.  Copy of birth certificate or passport

c.  Typed copy of essay

d.  $35.00 entry fee (checks payable to Indiana North District)


Three finalists in the Indiana North District will be invited to attend the Third Quarter District Conference in Marion on April 25, 2015 and read their essays to the delegates. The winner will be announced at that time.


The Indiana North District will award the winner a scholarship of $2500 scholarship funded by the Optimist International Foundation..
